Didn’t we have a ball!!!

October 29, 2012

What a fantastic turnout we had on Auction Day. Over 80 people attended the event and 92 beautiful pieces of art were sold. JMJ raised $8,000 net as a contribution to the Osonson Epicentre Project in Ghana.

What a massive accomplishment!

Congratulations to everyone involved. A huge thanks goes to the artists and the people who encouraged them to contribute,  being so generous in their support.  A big thanks also goes to Anne for her wonderful speech on THP, to Tracie for offering her home for another year, to Marie-Josee and Keith’s son Rhys for his endless effort and marvellous hat, to Mark for the wonderful event photography and to Michael Tedford at Boomi Films for filming, editing and creating a promotional video of the event.

The team would genuinely like to thank everyone who contributed for really making this memorable and an outstanding day.

But wait there’s  a second chance offer…

12 pieces of artwork are still remaining, so here’s your chance to snap up a bargain. Follow the link to the website to see what sold and what’s still available. Be outrageous,   be unreasonable and place an offer.  Let’s raise a further $2,000.

See you all next year,

Progress at the Osonson Epicentre

September 5, 2012

The JMJ supported Osonson Epicenter has now completed its building, a major asset to the community and the physical focal point of community-driven change. A team from JMJ visited Ghana in July 2010 where they took part in the formal commissioning of the epicenter building. A mechanized borehole provides a safe, clean and convenient supply of water, especially for the epicenter’s clinic and nurses’ quarters. Providing a source of convenient water also means that women who spent hours every day trekking to secure water now have more time and energy to work their farms, start small businesses, focus on schooling and other productive pursuits.

In the period July-December 2010, the following has taken place:

  • A group of community members are making progress on building a 3–unit classroom block (having completed the digging of the foundations, molded 150 cement blocks, and mobilized 11 trips of sand and 2 trips of stones).
  • 140 people (71 men and 69 women) participated in six HIV&AIDS educational sessions in six different communities. The topics discussed included causes and effects of HIV&AIDS, prevention, stigmatization and discrimination of people living with HIV&AIDS (more…)

Only 22 days to go!

August 30, 2012

It’s so exciting counting down the days until the auction – almost like waiting for Christmas!  So as we tick off the last 22 days we want to make sure you know the artwork drop point and the time of the auction

Artwork Drop Point and Date

We will be curating the auction the week starting 17th September so we need to have all artworks at the JMJ office by 4pm Friday 14th September.  Artworks should also be ready to hang when they are delivered.  The JMJ office address is: Level 5, 56 William St, Perth, 6000.

Change of Time

We have changed the auction time to 2pm-5pm (instead of 3pm-6pm) Saturday 22nd September.   We hope this does not inconvenience anyone.

2011 Perth Silent Art Auction

August 2, 2012

What a fantastic turnout we had on Auction Day, 2011.  Over 100 people attended the event and 72 pieces were sold, raising $10,000 and $7,300 to contribute to the Osonson Epicentre Project – what a massive accomplishment!

This year will be even bigger and better.  We are shifting our goal to a whopping $15,000 – so get involved!   Contact us thorough the website if you have artwork you wish to contribute or you want to get involved in the function on the day.

In the meantime take a look at some of the beautiful pieces we auctioned off last year.

JMJ Perth City Silent Art Auction

22nd September 2012

JMJ Associates has been committed to The Hunger Project (THP) since the inception of the company in 1987.  JMJ’s unique offerings to the business world and The Hunger Project’s model and values of empowerment follow the same principles. Each year JMJ employees across the globe organize a variety of fund raising events in their communities in support of THP. JMJ’s support mainly focuses on the Osonson Epicentre in Ghana.

We, at the Perth JMJ office, have taken on the creation of another Art Auction as our 2012 fund-raising event, after the success of our last Auction in 2011 raised over $7,300. We are very excited that you have decided to join us on our mission to raise over $10,000 this year and donate the funds directly to The Hunger Project.
